Why Do People Likes Seminyak That Much?
As happened more often than not, I was trapped in the traffic jam of Jalan Laksmana, the main road of Seminyak where my office is located. As always, the traffic congestion was caused by a car parked on the roadside as always. There is nothing wrong with parking your car on the roadside, but on the alley-size busy street like this one, it creates a long queue instantly.
Initially a sleepy fishing village on the outskirt of Kuta, Seminyak has been transformed into Bali's most sought after holiday enclave by holidaymakers seeking an escape from the crowd of Kuta. These days Seminyak has became so popular that resident expats called it "the Western capital of Bali".
What does Seminyak has that others don't? Bali has many other more beautiful beaches. People can surf in Seminyak, that's right, but Seminyak waves are only suitable to fun surfers. Surfing addicts are going to Canggu a bit up north, Uluwatu on the southern peninsula, or Keramas just off Sanur.
Seminyak has top fine dining restaurants like KuDeTa or La Luciola. But there are Di Mare in Jimbaran, Klapa in Pecatu, Village in Sanur, and many more across the island. Seminyak has good spas like Prana, but most go up to Ubud for indulging treatments. Seminyak has top night clubs, but there are also Hard Rock in Kuta, Sector in Sanur, or Ayana Rock Bar in Jimbaran. Culture? Well, you name any other places in Bali and I bet they have more cultural attractions to see.
So what does
has that others don't apart from narrow streets, busy traffic, and crowded sidewalk? There should be something I don't know, but it is really hard to believe that there is something I do not know after years of spending most of my days here.
| Seminyak accommodation |
Running a holiday-related business by renting Bali villas for holiday rental accommodation, I witness the popularity of Seminyak myself through our sales. Private villas in Seminyak are selling a lot more than their competitors in other areas.
